Nature and Scope

The Manufacturing Intern is a member of the New Albany Manufacturing Department and responsible for leading special projects targeted to improve efficiencies and communication in the Production areas. The Manufacturing department provides input and assistance to other Departments as needed, playing a critical role in maintaining production schedules and meeting Company goals. The Manufacturing Intern is required to work under the administration of Production management and efficiently conduct all duties and responsibilities assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, identify, analyze, present, and document process improvement initiatives in the Manufacturing Department.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
  • Support and assist on special projects with guidance from the Manufacturing leadership and other department personnel.
  • Administrative support for Manufacturing leadership and other department personnel.
  • Prepare a presentation of project results at the end of the internship.
  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • 1+ years of college level courses pursuing a degree in an accredited Science, Business or Engineering program required.
  • Ability to work 40 hrs/week during the summer internship program onsite in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean 6 Sigma methodology and project management preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other programs as needed.
  • Ability to use internet, e-mail, and copiers.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, and protective gloves. PPE is essential for the health and safety of employees.
  • Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
