This position will be a combination of onsite and remote work.

The Marketing & Communication Consultant- Conference Planner is a pivotal role that drives the strategic development and execution of Carilion's annual calendar of conferences. This position is tasked with creating agendas that align with the organization's priorities and goals, ensuring that each conference is both informative and impactful. Additionally, the Conference Planner leads large, cross-functional project teams, coordinating efforts across various departments to deliver seamless and successful events.

Promotes and provides strategic, consultative services within are of expertise for all levels of employees, departments and business units. Maintains a broad knowledge of all communications and marketing areas and activities, while specializing with advances knowledge in conference planning and communications. Serves as a role model/mentor for others within the Marketing, Communications and Planning department and associates external to the department.

  • Produces conferences that are tailored to the specific needs of the situation, using advances expertise to align with overall organizational goals/objectives and strategy. Continuously focuses on process improvement and proactively presents solutions.
  • Identifies key themes and topics that reflect the latest advancements and trends in healthcare. Develops conference agendas. Aligns conference content with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to gather input and feedback on conference topics and scheduling. Collaborates with medical experts, speakers, and thought leaders to develop relevant and timely session topics.
  • Leads large cross-functional projects teams, ensuring clear communication and coordination among all members. Oversee the planning , logistics, and execution of each conference, from inception to conclusion. Manages budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful event delivery. Serves as primary contact for vendors and/or leadership.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a team environment and have a solid working knowledge or Microsoft Office Programs. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines and being flexible in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Communicates with a diverse population of management, employees and external customers and vendors. Has assess to highly sensitive, confidential information. Work is fast-paced with multiple overlapping deadlines, as well as frequent interactions with peers and leaders on issue resolution, initiatives and projects.
  • Develops, maintains and nurtures working relationships with leaders, colleagues and external customers/vendors. Generates alliances that promote effective relationships and outcomes. Maintains a focus on the strategic, critical needs of the department and overall organization.
What We Require:

Education: Bachelor's degree or 8 years of equivalent experience required.

Experience: Five years of related experience with at least three years in specialized area required. Maintains a broad knowledge of all marketing and communications areas and activities, while specializing with advanced knowledge in one or two specific functions.
