This position operates and maintains all designated equipment throughout the facility. Maintains and repairs any blemishes or mechanical mishaps. Responsible for general appearance and overall upkeep of facility. Consistently demonstrates support of the department by striving for excellence, contributing to team efforts and by displaying a degree of daily positive professionalism for customers and fellow employees.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Performs minor maintenance and repair tasks across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical work, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and promptly, without requiring specialized licensing.

2. Supports licensed trades, such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, boiler operation and plumbing, by providing assistance and performing tasks as needed or directed.
3. Performs routine rounds throughout facility to ensure equipment is operating properly.
4. Sets up and operates mechanical equipment and small hand tools.
5. Troubleshoots/Diagnoses mechanical issues with equipment/systems.
6. Works with all hospital caregivers to maintain optimal building conditions for patient care.
7. Reviews, organizes, and maintains equipment inventory, supplies, and tools.
8. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
9. Provides quality customer service to customers/patients.
10. Utilizes digital technology (handheld device, computer) to open, create, complete, and close Work Orders.
11. Meets local codes.
12. Maintains related records.
13. Trains junior team members.
14. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. MA Driver License
2. High School Diploma/GED

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Strong mechanical aptitude
2. Must have ample knowledge/experience using hand tools
3. Practical problem solving
4. Able to lift 50+ pounds and climb ladders
5. Able to stand or kneel for extended period of times

Preferred:
1. 3-5 years of experience highly preferred

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
