A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and/or patient care and education. This person may also act as an active participant of the system outreach program by attending health fairs and other wellness activities in response to community requests or targeted efforts designed to influence healthy life styles, and meet healthcare needs.

Requirements

Educational Requirements: Completion of the BRPT Sleep Technologist Registry exam (RPSGT), or completion of one of the 3 BRPT recognized pathways for eligibility to sit for the Entry Level (CPST) Certified Polysomnographic Technician exam (valid for three years and not Renewable). If employment is based on the entry level CPST certification, acquiring, and passing the Sleep Technologist Registry exam (RPSGT) prior to CPST certification expiration.

Experience Requirements: At least 1 year of work experience in Polysomnography required.

State of Florida Licensure Requirements: None

Certifications/Registrations: RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) required, or CPSGT (Certified Polysomnographic Technician), BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required.

Additional Requirements: Good computer skills, excellent communication skills, and self-motivator.
