Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Budget Director. Located at the Daytona Beach campus, this position supports budget activities for all campuses, including Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Worldwide. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and Budget, the Budget Director will plan, direct and manage all activities related to the University's annual operating budget.

Responsibilities Include

  • Plan and schedule the timing of annual budget preparation; supervise/coordinate the distribution of budget materials and information; supervise the preparation of the annual budget; review, analyze, and report on annual budget submissions
  • Analyze revenue and expenses for discrepancies from established budget and advise administration of potential problems; participate in the ongoing review, analysis, and reporting of the university's financial condition, including ad hoc analyses
  • Provide for budget consultation and training; instruct and assist university community with established policies, procedures, and other budget-related guidance
  • Evaluate departmental budget and compensation requests for reasonableness and effect on current and future budgets
  • Be a subject matter expert in budget-related areas of Workday
  • Identify, investigate, and implement process improvements using innovation and automation
  • Through reporting and research, ensure actual and budget activity post as expected; correct activity when needed or notify responsible individuals
  • Review budget amendments, journal entries, and inter-fund transfers for accuracy
  • Coordinate the design, preparation, and maintenance of new and existing budget reports
  • Manage and mentor three staff members, enhancing productivity and achieving objectives within budget. Assist the staff in addressing multiple demands, shifting priorities and unexpected events.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in budget management at a large and complex organization
  • Supervisory experience
  • Higher Education sector and Workday experience preferred
