CNB is looking for an experienced, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as an Sr. Accountant/Assistant Controller, ON-SITE in our Hillsdale Office.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will actively participate and be responsible for key financial accounting and financial reporting tasks. The position will also assist the Controller with reviewing, updating and monitoring all policies and procedures to ensure banking regulations and internal controls are followed.
DUTIES
- Maintains a system of internal controls to support the integrity of the financial statements. Key functions include but not limited to: self-review of tasks, peer review of supporting documents, and completion of account reconciliations.
- Reviews General Ledger daily and identifies/corrects errors (non-posted items and other differences).
- Prepares and submits various Regulatory reports.
- Maintains or views fixed assets, investment portfolio and shareholder relations.
- Assists with month-end accounting close process.
- Prepares and assists with various accounting projections, analyses and projects
- Maintains cross-training with Accounting Specialist I and II.
- Maintains cross-training with Controller, taking on more advanced responsibilities to balance workload distribution.
- Works closely with Controller on annual audits.
- Documents, standardizes, and measures key business processes to allow for continual improvement and efficiency of all department processes.
- Maintains and protects confidentiality of customer information.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
- Complies with all regulatory requirements including Bank Secrecy Act and all others specific to their position.
- Performs other various duties as assigned.

- Communicates on a regular basis with all staff members on various tasks.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS - EXTERNAL
- Communicates on a regular basis with correspondent banks, third party software and service providers/vendors.

- Bachelor's degree required with focus on Accounting. Comparable accounting experience may be considered.
- At least 3 to 5 years of accounting and/or banking experience.
- Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the financial industry.
- Passion for providing a stellar customer service experience to all customers (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and customer friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
- Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to customers and management.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve targets/goals.
- Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank information.
- Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details, advanced problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Self-Starter and possess an entrepreneurial attitude.
- Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
