Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Student Success Coordinator is responsible for managing student retention through providing proactive outreach, reactive support, and comprehensive and exceptional customer service. This position is the critical first line of support for MAC students in the online format. Additionally, they support the student engagement, academic, and operations activities for both formats of the MAC Program. The SSC is assigned a group of enrolled students and is expected to serve as their primary advisor from matriculation to graduation.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

*Strong student focus and customer service skills.

*An empathetic and diplomatic communication style.

*Ability and willingness to interact with people over the phone or over email as a large part of the day.

*Motivated, organized, and keenly sensitive to students' collective and individual needs.

*Ability to work in a team environment and work independently.

*Strong counseling skills including listening, guiding and problem-solving.

*Excellent professional judgment in handling demanding customers.

*Move quickly and adeptly between a wide range of projects amidst unpredictable circumstances.

*Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

*Regular evening and weekend work is required to meet the needs of our working professional students.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience in a University or higher education setting preferred.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
