Job Description

Manages all quality control, quality assurance and clinical trials activities in the quality management department. Assists in monitoring and documenting quality improvement activities for organization laboratories. Ensures staffing, materials and equipment needs are fulfilled.

Job Responsibility

* Provides leadership to Clinical Laboratory Quality team members and supervisors
by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
* Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the
health system.
* Manages the daily activities, and monitors the daily workflow in the quality
management department.
* Follows up on all quality assurance/quality management and clinical trials issues;
represents the quality management department to various committees and submits
required reports.

Provides daily administrative operational support as needed.
* Supervises staff; hires, trains, disciplines, and supervises staff in collaboration with
the leadership; evaluates performance and ensures appraisals are completed on a
timely basis.
* Ensures appropriate coverage at all times and approves employee schedules
including vacations; ensures staff is continually trained and kept abreast of latest
technology.
* Manages all quality control files; coordinates various activities for the testing
program for laboratories; coordinates the ordering for quality control materials;
evaluates quality control outcomes; reviews and evaluates various quality control
reports; makes recommendations and provides reports, as requested.
* Manages the health system-wide Specimen Correlation Program.
* Provides reports to the health system-wide Methods committee.
* Collaboratively coordinates all laboratory Performance Improvement activities the
health system-wide.
* Assists in developing PI plans and Quality monitors.
* Provides guidance to the Quality Management staff in preparing PI reports.
* Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered

Job Qualification

*Bachelor's Degree required.
*Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Histotechnologist or Cytotechnologist or Pathologist Assistant in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
*6-8 years of technical experience, required and 2-5 years of leadership/management experience, preferred OR Master's Degree with 2-4 years of technical experience.
