The Supply Planner is responsible for developing monthly Rolling Forecast and Annual Budget Supply Plans for their segment(s) (e.g. Core Cut & Stack, Roll Fed, etc.) with sufficient detail to identify crewing for key operations over the next 3-12 months, and equipment required over the next 36 months to satisfy both firm demand plans and the range of expected growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor each press for key performance criteria; reported v crewed hours, downtime, make ready minutes, run speed per minute and job size for the key attributes that affect performance in your segment. Ensure the segment demand mix is correctly interpreted in the segment rough cut capacity models.
  • Work with inventory planning to maximize job size while minimizing unnecessary risk print
  • Work with demand planning to minimize 3 month forecast bias to ensure the proper run rates for level loading labor in segment
  • Work with operations to plan and keep to least cost crewing levels using level loading principles that allow crewing to remain constant/level while inventory flexes based on customer required ship dates.
  • Work with GRE to plan key resources for onboarding new business, executing plant/press remix projects, imposition automation opportunities and other sustaining business projects.
  • Work with Sales team to build a Demand Driven planning process where growth is planned, new business is described in sufficient detail to allow the Supply Planner to estimate resources requirements in advance of real orders being entered, and base business is understand for volume from on going operations
  • Align execution plans with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, the VP of Operations, Plant General Managers, Sales and Customer Service to ensure that resources are properly aligned and adjusted on a daily basis to achieve the Supply Plan and deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Works with Operations to expedite and adjust schedules to meet emergencies caused by downtime, increased production demand, or material and/or manpower shortages.
  • Recognize and respond to changes from the Master Supply plan by proactively seeking misalignment, reactively managing through exception reports, setting up the planning system for "normal cause" variation and responding to the planning system recommendations.
  • Ensure inventory is manufactured and distributed in support of the Supply Plan.
  • Coordinate production from Company plants and/or procurement of finished goods or outsourcing services from contract manufacturers or suppliers into the Company network.
  • Participate in the Service Performance and MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) meetings to monitor leading indicator metrics, identify abnormal conditions across the supply chain and initiate appropriate problem solving techniques.
  • Coordinate with Plants and Engineering to maintain service performance throughout all capital projects and plant shutdowns.
  • Problem solve the highest causes of increased cost of failures by researching, determining root cause and driving for improvement.
  • Contribute to the success of the overall business by representing supply chain interests in cross-functional project teams to implement changes to business processes
  • Mentor and train team members on systems and processes as well as trading partners and groups in other business units or departments
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, makes constructive suggestions for change and drive for results
  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and regulatory issues as they relate to specific area(s) of responsibility and shares learnings, as appropriate, with peers.
  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience in manufacturing planning systems which should include inventory management, planning and/or distribution or a minimum of 5-10 years' experience in related field (experience in the printing industry preferred)
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (Globetek a plus)
  • Firm understanding of the parameters and calculations that drive rough cut capacity plans
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving a few variables. Must understand when to involve manager in the problem solving process.
  • Excellent written and verbal two-way communication skills
  • Able to process large amounts of data, influence others and drive cross-functional alignment and be able to communicate at various levels within the organization.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment while managing personal schedule and exhibit flexibility to support multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other MS office tools is essential.
  • Occasional travel required to Plants, Customers and/or partner locations (10%).
  • APICS certification preferred.

Other considerations:

  • Travel requirement:For the first 3-6 months travel will be up to 50%, after introductory period up to 30% travel.
