Summary:

Responsible for providing technical expertise and specialized services in managing materials and data systems, supporting project scheduling, procurement, and evaluating new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and project execution.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Recommend, develop, implement, and maintain data collection and reporting systems with a focus on improving the efficiency of work processes and keeping data systems current.
  • Evaluate material requirements for work orders, coordinate material purchases with System Purchasing and vendors, and develop and maintain project material schedules.
  • Produce and maintain reports on material delivery status and take action to expedite orders as necessary to meet construction schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage materials and assembly unit data.
  • Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors, and management regarding materials and standards development, procurement, and packaging issues.
  • Evaluate new technologies that will enhance the electric system.
  • Support the preparation of yearly Capital budgets.
  • Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert and represent CenterPoint Energy on external committees, conferences, and other groups.



Education:

High School diploma. (Required)

Associates degree (Preferred)

Experience:

Must have experience in SAP Systems, Materials Management, Mapping and Database Programming, Procurement, and Logistics.



  • Proficient in SAP Materials Management Software.
  • Able to use personal computer software proficiently, such as those for word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, presentations, and electronic mail.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Able to work and participate successfully in a team environment to accomplish assignments.
  • Able to work well with both technical and non-technical personnel to gather and exchange information, resolve issues, plan activities, and meet or exceed objectives.
  • Able to manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks and priorities, operate under general direction, develop own work methods as required yet follow standard procedures and determine when management is to be consulted on unusual situations.
  • Able to communicate effectively, in oral and written form, with co-workers, customers, vendors and the community.
  • Able to exercise discretion, tact, and good judgment in dealing with co-workers, customers, vendors and the community.
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, listening ability and business acumen to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the community.
  • Able to make informed decisions, follow procedures and comply with policies based on the knowledge of the work and the services provided by CenterPoint Energy.
  • Able to provide and maintain a valid state driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Able to comply with all company driver safety policy requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.
  • Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company's values and business practices and do both consistently.
