Job Description Summary: JOB SUMMARY The Contract, Compound Specialist assists in the operation, and maintenance of PTC's research compound service to enable timely execution of high-quality biochemical and cell-based assays throughout PTC's laboratories. This position requires a highly motivated individual to execute SOP's and to operate integrated automation and laboratory instruments in a manner that scales across an expanding set of drug discovery applications. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external vendors on compound management and drug discovery technology related issues. The Contract, Specialist adheres to relevant regulatory requirements and company wide safety procedures and SOP's as appropriate. Job Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Primary duties/responsibilities: Maintain our growing collection of small molecules and fulfill requests for compounds in both liquid and solid formats Receive and process all compound samples from internal and external sources to be added to the compound inventory, including registration, packaging/unpackaging, labelling, sorting, and proper storage. Assist in compound management using commercial inventory software (Scigilian, etc). Communicate with scientists across the Research organization regarding compound orders and manage daily production schedule and order fulfillment. Process, and dispense all compound requests, including weighing solid samples, creating stock solutions, plating liquid sample requests, and preparing samples for shipping. In collaboration with the Lab Manager ensure weighing and laboratory equipment is in proper working order and properly serviced. Perform tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED The ability to work independently, and simultaneously handle multiple projects in a rapidly changing, deadline-driven environment. Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment and willingness to learn and implement novel techniques and strategies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience. 2 years experience in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, or related field * Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with automation instrument schedulers such as Win prep Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred. Competency with Corporate compound databases such as Abase or Dotmatics.
