Summary/Objective: Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting the in the development of quality and testing standards for products, manufacturing equipment and processes. Identification of technical issues, root cause analysis and proactively recommending solutions that will improve product durability and overall performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of quality planning tools such as APQP, DFMEA, & PFMEA to assure our products and processes are capable.
  3. Assist or lead in the creation or maintenance of PPAP, FAI, or CoC files.
  4. Assist with corrective action exercises. (8D, 5 Why, CAPA)
  5. Internal Audits and Management Reviews:
  1. Regularly conducting internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the QMS and identify areas for improvement.
  1. Assist in the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance Program, which includes:
    1. Input of data
    2. Assessment capabilities
    3. Establishment of charts and forms
    4. Maintenance of data
    5. Development of new systems.
  2. Engage in a positive manner with team members from all disciplines to ensure common goals are being met (production, material handling, lean manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, safety, maintenance, shipping/receiving, customer service, etc.)
  3. Be prepared to work overtime hours as necessary, including Saturdays, in order to complete production schedules in a timely manner.
  4. Provide adequate care and maintenance of all equipment and resources used, including performing required calibrations and preventive maintenance where necessary.
  5. Organize the day-to-day activities of the team.
  6. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering and Production to determine inspection frequency, perform RCA
  7. Utilize measurement methodology to determine implementation and frequency.
  1. Including GD&T for stamped and laser cut parts and utilization of precision measurement equipment (CMM, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  2. Review and develop SPC to define stability of processes.
  1. Train operators and production staff on best practices for quality assurance in metal stamping, laser cutting, and press operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment
  • May sit for several hours at a time
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degre
  2. 5+ years of experience in quality management with metal stamping, laser cutting, or press operations.
  3. Hands-on experience with laser cutting, metal stamping, dye setup and press.
  4. Strong communication skills for customers, supplier and internal team member interations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System in compliance with relevant industry standards.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain quality specifications, procedures, and standards for products and processes.
  3. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely and effective manner.
  4. Develop and implement quality improvement plans, including corrective and preventive actions, to address quality issues and to prevent their recurrence.
  5. Participate in design reviews, product development, and manufacturing processes to ensure that quality requirements are incorporated from the early stages of product development.
  6. Plan and execute internal and external quality audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  7. Provide training and support to team members on quality tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  8. Ensure all safety regulations are followed and maintain compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position could have the following positions reporting to it: Quality Analyst, Quality Coordinator, or Quality Technician.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

Travel:

Travel will be moderate and would be primarily local during the business day.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality or relataed field
  2. Manufacturing/industry experience.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be able to pass EVerify.
