The University of Virginia Facilities Management department has a Custodian opportunity in its North Grounds Zone. Custodians perform exceptional housekeeping services in assigned areas through safe work practices while using proper housekeeping techniques. The position maintains good working relationships with customers, staff, students, and supervisors. The Custodian completes special project work as assigned. They gain increasing efficiency with cleaning techniques, supplies, and equipment. Basic housekeeping experience, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms and removal of trash is required. Ability to follow established policies and procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines in daily work is required. Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team, as well as written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are also essential. Microsoft Outlook (email) and the ability to submit electronic timesheets are also required. Duties Include:

Physical Demands: The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties as a housekeeper, such as dusting and mopping, etc. Thisjob requires a range of continual movements, including walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting and lifting.
