What Your Job Will Be Like:

Interested in Sandia's Creative Services team where your expertise in animation and visual storytelling will enhance dynamic multimedia projects and drive innovation in communication? If so, Organization 00157-2, Creative Services, Video & Photo, is currently seeking an experienced, motion graphics Video Producer and Director to join their team!

The selected candidate will develop and create 2D & 3D animations/motion graphics for various applications, including Internal & External communications, training videos, research support, digital displays, and corporate branding standards. They will also develop concepts and produce effective visual communications products through exceptional customer service, strong project management, and accomplished animation and video production skills.

Successful candidates will be knowledgeable with music and sound effect selection, digital effect creation, and final editing.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:



  • Collaborate and consult with staff and managers to determine requirements and advise and influence decision makers on best methods of communication

  • Evaluate and recommend equipment or software that best meets the needs of clients

  • Perform and oversee aspects of video production, including conceptualization, subject-matter research, scriptwriting, location scouting, shot selection, video shooting, tape logging, music and sound effect selection, digital effect creation, final editing, duplication, and distribution

  • Establish and manage budgets associated with each project, including determining the most practical and cost-efficient approach, schedule, and level of quality required to accomplish communication objectives

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, all while performing with attention to detail

  • Maintain effective and direct communication skills with customers, coworkers, and management

  • Create high quality animation/motion graphic templates and assets for use by members of the design and video teams

  • Help create necessary elements that tell stories and communicate messages effectively in a deadline sensitive environment

  • Team with specialists and consult with all levels of staff and management to create, modify, and track work products



Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$85,100 - $164,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Media Arts, Animation and Visual Effects, Film/TV, Communications, or a relevant field, plus 5 years related experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job

  • Experience with After Effects, Unreal, Maya, Cinema 4D, and/or Blender

  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance



Candidates who reach the formal interview stage will be asked to provide a portfolio of sample videos.

Qualifications We Desire:



  • A proven pedigree in visual storytelling; the ability to demonstrate a deep understating of animation, motion graphics, and video fundamentals and techniques

  • Experience editing full-scale productions with Adobe Creative software

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-Design

  • Experience creating motion graphics which align with corporate branding standards

  • An "eye" for modern production trends and practices

  • The ability to translate technical concepts and material into compelling and persuasive communications products

  • Tech-savvy; the ability to work in multiple file formats and integrate/output required metadata and media

  • Experience with project management, including determining the most practical and cost-efficient approach, schedule, and level of quality required to accomplish communications

  • Excellent teaming, interpersonal, and communication skills; the demonstrated ability to team well with other video producers, graphic designers, writers, and outside partners



About Our Team:

Organization 00157 provides professional graphic design, animation, technical writing/editing, video production, audiovisual and off-site event production, digital display and mobile application design, and printing services that contribute to the success of the Laboratories and its mission. The services provided include, but are not limited to, photography, publication design and layout, interactive multimedia presentations, exhibit design and planning, interior design, poster fabrication, graphic illustrations, and video production.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
