We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Informatics Director I on our Health Solutions team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

Responsible for the advancement of the AMA's clinical and administrative interoperability goals within Health Solutions (HS). Additionally, responsible for leading and providing direction within areas of product management and development for CPT products, specifically data execution for the Educational Content product portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Industry Standards Management

  • Drives the advancement of the Health Solutions (HS) product portfolio by aligning it with the evolving healthcare standards and data landscape. Includes translating interoperability work into actionable insights that enhance the value of HS products.
  • Provides collaborative leadership in content and system design for CPT Educational Content products and associated infrastructure, integrating industry standardization trends into product development design and execution.
  • Executes CPT Interoperability standards strategy and roadmap.
  • Influence key committees, groups and government organizations to ensure CPT relevance and value, and ease of use by current and future clients that meet or exceed regulatory standards requirements.
  • Leads content development activities specific to CPT Educational content products as they relate to Interoperability, Consumer and Clinical friendly terminology, and Educational Products.
  • Leads the development of appropriate collaborative prototypes in support of new data driven product concepts as defined and managed by key industry standards stakeholders.
  • Provides input to HS sales and marketing to ensure product messaging aligns with the interoperability landscape.
  • Interacts with external stakeholders to understand product requirements and validate that solutions meet customer needs while adhering to standards where and when feasible and appropriate.

Interoperability

  • Responsible for advancing AMA interoperability objectives within HS. Works closely with AMA Advocacy to ensure alignment with policy objectives.
  • Responsible for external CPT specific data standards content development activities within HS in collaboration with HS engineering
  • Influences the planning and is responsible for execution of pilots or other development derived from Interoperability and Standards committees, workgroups, communities and boards. Includes ongoing assessment of applicability to enrichment or addition to the HS Product portfolio.
  • Delivers current and future state industry intelligence on proposed and promulgated data standards affecting the HS CPT product portfolio, physicians, and patients.
  • Serves on committees and coalitions and identifies opportunities to advance the mission of the AMA through committee and coalition leadership positions in data standards development and interoperability projects domestically and internationally including serving on committees and coalitions, industry presentations and panel participation, to advance AMA interoperability objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on informatics to support other AMA business unit projects to ensure alignment with healthcare data standards landscape.
  • Establishes the AMA as a domestic and global leader and partner in the development and implementation of data standards.
  • Manages contractor resources as necessary

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BA degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology or similar disciplines required; graduate degree or specialized program certification in business and/or technology preferred
  2. Minimum 10+ years of demonstrated experience in leading the design, development, maintenance, and the maturation of data standards
  3. Minimum 10+ years of experience leading content and software product management
  4. Minimum 5+ years of experience working with current interoperability data and format standards (e.g. X12, HL7, FHIR, EDI, DICOM, etc.)
  5. Proven experience leading healthcare data interoperability, data quality, data mapping, and data modeling projects domestically and internationally; may include work with payers, providers, EHR vendors, device vendors, national governments, and standards development organizations
  6. Capable of teaching and coaching informatics and product management teams to adopt industry standard best practices in product development lifecycle and the development of data standards
  7. Travel Required

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $160,650- $213,384. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
