Requisition ID req32972 Working Title Accountant 2 Position Grade 12 Position Summary The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology in the UNM School of Medicine is seeking a professional, detail-oriented Accountant II. The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, is a motivated self-starter with a strong accounting background in both unrestricted and restricted sponsored projects accounting (i.e., Contracts and Grants) ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting faculty. The department is a research-active academic department and this individual will oversee all funding and accounting responsibilities for the department. We are looking for an Accountant II who is eager to bring fresh ideas and modern accounting practices to our team. We seek someone who is proactive, innovative, and excited about streamlining financial tracking and reporting. This role is a great opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping to implement best practices and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting operations. The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing unrestricted and restricted funds to include but not limited to completing and entering budgets, monitoring, completing monthly reconciliation of indexes, preparing and updating monthly projection reports and other financial reports. Processing monthly financial statements and projection reports, processing financial transactions such as labor redistributions, reimbursements, requisitions and journal vouchers. Coordination and preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings. Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff regarding accounting related issues and UNM policies and procedures. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications
