Overview

The HR Business Partner fosters strong partnerships with senior management to drive change, strategically plan for the future, manage corporate culture, and aligns HR programs and policies with organizational missions and goals.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Fosters strong partnerships with senior management to drive change, strategically plan for the future, manage corporate culture, and align HR programs and policies with organizational missions and goals.
  • Provides strategic support, information, and services primarily to Organizational leadership, in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, contract administration, facilitate wage and salary administration, record maintenance, performance management, HR policies and procedures, employee wellness, environmental/safety compliance programs and EEO matters.
  • Integrates into customer's business practices by attending organization and department meetings, making presentations, and maintaining a field presence to address employee relations issues. Cultivates relationships with customers on an ongoing basis in order to play an active role in their long-term employee initiatives.
  • Partners on investigatory activities related to investigations by HR, ODI, BEC, Security, and the Corporate Ombudsman and provides advice and counsel on corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with the HR Centers of Excellence to drive the organization's HR initiatives.
  • Fosters and promotes a culture that supports workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. Identifies opportunities to improve staff diversity and ensure compliance with staffing policies.
  • Offers organizations guidance and support in performance management and compensation, including preparing and tracking performance reviews for both management and union employees. Provides advice on merit and variable salary guidelines for management employees.
  • Provides guidance on: compliance with union contracts, terminations resulting from corporate drug and alcohol policy violations, accurate reporting of excused time, and compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Provides advice and counsel on discipline for management employees and high-level discipline for weekly employees in line with corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Assists managers with employee development.
  • Provides guidance on new and existing human resource policies and practices. Stays current on HR practices. Coordinates with training, budget, and safety administrators to ensure alignment of goals.
  • Facilitates the distribution of HR-related information to the line organization to ensure timely communication.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Associate's Degree and 9 Years of relevant work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 Years of relevant work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology
Relevant Work Experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience in Human Resources (employee relations, compensation, performance management, labor relations, wage and salary administration, workforce planning, and diversity, equity & inclusion). Required and
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills. Required and
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Required and
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors. Required and
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and exert influence. Required and
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Required and
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and mainframe applications. Required and
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Required and
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project team. Required and
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Required
  • Supervisory experience. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Other: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), HRCI PHR or SPHR credential. Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Travel to various Company locations is required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer/phone.
