We (The Oehrn Lab, https://oehrnlab.ucdavis.edu/) are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar with advanced skills in neural data analysis to investigate basal ganglia-cortical networks involved in cognitive and emotional processing. Our research combines intracranial recordings from patients with Parkinson's disease implanted with sensing-enabled deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices and high-density EEG.

You will work with unique datasets recorded invasively from the subthalamic nucleus, globus pallidus, and thalamus, and non-invasively from the cortex during tasks probing motor, cognitive, and emotional functions. The project involves developing novel stimulation strategies, including closed-loop (adaptive) DBS for non-motor symptoms. One focus is on at-home intracranial recordings during cognitive and affective processing to study brain function in everyday life.

This position offers the opportunity to:

We are seeking a researcher with the following qualifications:



  • PhD in biomedical engineering, neuroengineering, computer science, neuroscience, or related field
  • Strong experience in signal processing and programming (MATLAB or Python required)
  • Proficiency in analyzing neural data using statistical and machine learning methods
  • First-author publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Enthusiasm for translational, patient-centered neuroscience research


Our research takes place in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and translational environment at the intersection of neuroscience, medicine, and engineering, with the goal of advancing precision neuromodulation to comprehensively improve motor and non-motor symptoms in neurological disorders.
