Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.The Azure Databases chief of staff team manages all the behind-the-scenes Budget, Headcount and Operating procedures and processes to ensure that the Azure Databases Engineering priorities can be achieved. Our team makes tangible impact on this growing organization, getting things done efficiently and at scale. Our work spans large and diverse global teams, and we drive processes and practices that streamline the business and drive results. As a Business Manager, you will serve as a trusted partner to the Chief of Staff in all areas related to the management and operations of our Azure databases resources, Gross Margin analysis and strategic financial planning, reporting and tools. In this role you will be integrated with, support all business management and operations rhythms across the Staff team, while you partner deeply with our Azure Data Central Finance Director, Marketing, and our Database Product and Engineering Teams. You will exercise and develop your general management skills, partner with, and be able to support the business efficiently at any level. You'll be a vital, trusted member of a tight-knit team, an exemplar of cultural alignment and the highest professional standards. You will manage confidential information without exception. ResponsibilitiesBusiness Operations & IntegrationPartners with the leadership team to develop and execute planning processes, ensuring coordination with corporate planning processes as well as planning integration across the broader organization.Management and controls of Azure Databases resources budget and processes including target definition, pre-approval process, approval process and efficiency management.Create an expense reporting overview (budget vs forecast of Azure Databases resources budget)Guidance owner and process owner related to all Azure Databases resources across budget, headcount, external resources and allocation planning.Contribute to business reviews and reporting of analyses on Azure Databases resources budget, key operational results, business metrics, actionable business insights that enable effective business management and decision-making.Helps in managing the team's rhythm of business (ROB). Works with cross-Azure Data/team counterparts to manage team participation as needed for key business events, next fiscal year planning, running business reviews, and other strategic business planning activities.Ensures internal continuation of business operations during all times, including periods of change or special circumstances.Contributes to finding workable solutions to business problems. Communicates business continuity plans with Microsoft corporate Crisis Management, Business Continuity teams, and with partners. Maximizing/Extending the leaderSupport the Chief of Staff in one or more key business management areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities and communications). Synthesize information into insights that inform business decisions, leveraging expertise to influence leadership team.CommunicationsDrive internal communications for business operation updates across databases and with key leadership stakeholders.Contribute to building user friendly reports and communications that are audience specific to ensure clarity and drive alignment.Work with Chief of Staff to define and operationalize improvements to the team's communication strategy inclusive of SharePoint design, new communication mediums, deck templates, and more. Special Projects/Programs and InitiativesContributes to cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and manage business needs. Engages in well-defined projects/programs while executing aspects of projects/programs for larger areas, including work on strategic efforts that require hands-on experience which may be across multiple disciplines.Embody our culture and values
