Position Title: Chef Manager

Salary: $60,000-$75,000/yearly

FISD is committed to providing exceptional food service in educational environments. We are seeking a growth-minded Chef Manager for St. Stephen's Episcopal Day School in Miami, FL, a prestigious private school serving students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. This role will be responsible for overseeing all culinary and food service operations, ensuring high-quality meals are served sustainably and efficiently. The Chef Manager will oversee the culinary and food service operations, ensuring the successful execution of an inclusive lunch program, which provides nutritious, sustainable, and delicious meals to students and staff. The role will also require flexibility to cater to special weekend events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all culinary operations for the school's inclusive lunch program, including menu development, preparation, and service, Monday through Friday.
  • Oversee catering for special school events, including occasional weekend events (typically once or twice a month, either Saturday or Sunday).
  • Handle inventory management, ordering, and receiving food and supplies.
  • Ensure the quality, presentation, and nutritional value of all meals served.
  • Control food costs and work to meet budgetary goals, including P&L accountability.
  • Foster a sustainable food service operation by sourcing local ingredients and implementing eco-friendly practices.
  • Manage food service staff and ensure they are trained in all aspects of food preparation, sanitation, and safety.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP.
  • Ensure that all catering events are executed to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the school community, including staff, students, and parents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of culinary management experience in food service contract management, corporate settings, education environments, fine dining, or country clubs.
  • Ability to be flexible for catering events on Saturdays and Sundays, as needed
  • Spanish-speaking is required to effectively communicate with the community.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cost management, and P&L accountability.
  • Experience with high-end catering is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food trends, menu development, food safety, sanitation, and presentation.
  • Experience with exposition cooking and large-scale catering events is essential.
  • HACCP knowledge and experience is a must.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
