The Department of Mechanical Engineering within UNM's School
of Engineering is seeking a team-oriented individual with a growth mindset. Would you enjoy working in team environment assisting

Fiscal Services Tech?

The M.E.
Department is research active with grants/contracts from federal, state, and
private sponsors. The Fiscal Services
Tech is part of a fiscal team that maintains financial records for these grants/contracts
as well as the department's administrative funds and scholarships. The Fiscal Services Tech completes a
significant number of purchasing and other financial transactions in support of
the department's teaching and research mission.

The Fiscal
Services Tech is the main purchaser for the department; the main initiator of
graduate student assistantship contracts, assists the Department Accountant in
various financial matters, serves as a backup for time entry, and serves as a backup
for in-person departmental inquiries. This
position is ideal for someone interested in expanding their skill set, as the
successful candidate will gain experience working in a variety of fiscal areas-
purchasing, grants, contracts, scholarships, and general department fiscal
records.

The
successful candidate will be dependable and team-oriented, have excellent
attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, and collaborate
effectively with a wide range of individuals in a very diverse work environment. This position reports to the Department
Accountant 2.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience purchasing a wide variety of goods and services with a corporate credit card (UNM p-card), purchase orders, or wire transfers.
  • Experience booking and reimbursing domestic and international travel to include finding quotes for the best and most affordable travel rates for student teams, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience reconciling, maintaining financial records, and creating journal entries.
  • Experience with UNM financial and reporting systems: Banner, ChromeRiver, LoboMart, Graduate Studies Assistantships System, Workflow, and MyReports.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to accurately comply with university fiscal policies and procedures set forth by the respective UNM departments/offices- Payroll Office, Purchasing Department, the Office for Academic Personnel, Unrestricted Accounting Office, Contracts & Grants Accounting Office, and Inventory Control.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and the ability to think analytically and critically.
