The successful candidate:

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, rotating weekends

  • Weekday hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

  • Weekend hours: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Job Summary: The Steward is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, glasses, utensils, and other items to maintain a sanitary environment for patients, caregivers, and staff. This role ensures compliance with the Organization's and Health Department standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen items and areas, including the cafe, cooking area, and cook line.

  • Ensure all areas are well-stocked with necessary items to support smooth departmental operations.

  • Follow all ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation guidelines.

  • Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 1 year of related experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications/Permits:

  • A current Illinois Food Handler's Permit from the County/State Health Department is required. ServeSafe certification preferred.

  • Certification from an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited food handler training program or obtained within 30 days of employment (Required in IL). ServeSafe certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment.
