The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who provides case managements services through coordination and evaluation of patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. The Utilization Review (UR) staff is responsible for managing, reviewing, and monitoring the utilization ofresources related to the patient and to maximize effectiveness of care by evaluating clinical appropriateness. This position is responsible for both UR and RN functions within the department.

• Document patient information and nursing care in the provision ofnursing service
• Document and reassess any significant changes in the patient's condition in compliance with facility policy.
• Attend treatment planning meetings and oversee the coordination of care for patients in respect to the available financial resources which includes notifying attending physician/treatment team of actual or potential denial

Education: Graduate from an accredited program ofprofessional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Preferred Experience: A minimum ofthree (3) years experience in a psychiatric health-care facility. 1 year ofthis experience needs to be directly within a UR capacity, which includes direct contact with external review organizations, to include payor sources, and functioning as a liaison between business and the clinical treatment team.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the California State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of Handle with Care (HWC) training (provided in-house), including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in a restraining process. Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.
