Job Summary/Overview

This assignment is for a mechanical or industrial engineer in a manufacturing role. The assignment is for a minimum of one semester and summer (part-time interns will also be considered). It supports several business needs: Continuous improvement in manufacturing operations including safety, cost quality and delivery; Increased manufacturing capacity and flexibility to support production surge requirements; Launch of components for new model requirements; Problem solving of daily production and equipment issues; Development of future manufacturing engineering resource.

  • Yes. As a Manufacturing Engineering co-op, the student will be exposed to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Revising and updating standard operating procedures and work instructions
  • Creating new process documentation, time studies, and work standards
  • Drafting cell layout
  • Assists with mechanical design improvements for assembly and machining processes utilizing CAD software.
  • Conducting machine capability studies
  • Testing of process and tooling changes
  • Assist operators in identifying and resolving process issues
  • Investigating and resolving quality issues
  • Collecting quality and process data
  • Completing ergonomic assessments

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • A team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust priories to reflect changing needs or job demands.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis preferred
  • Exposure to AutoCAD / SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Required Qualifications

  • A junior or senior college student pursuing a Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree
  • Two years of mechanical or industrial engineering education
  • GPA 2.8 or higher preferred
