Job Brief
Design and develop products to ensure they perform as expected in highly stressed environments and extreme conditions. Develop designs for new and innovative products from concept stage through to design and manufacturing. Senior Industrial Designer, Dyno Nobel Inc., Simsbury, CT: Design and develop products to ensure they perform as expected in highly stressed environments and extreme conditions. Develop designs for new and innovative products from concept stage through to design and manufacturing. Design and improve existing products to enhance their performance, improve reliability and cost-effectiveness. Thoroughly and effectively trouble-shoot problems and implement solutions of a mechanical nature. Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems. Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork, and/or blueprints, using drafting instruments or computer-aided design equipment. Direct and coordinate the fabrication of models or samples and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets from sketches. Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends. Confer with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products. Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics. Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements. Design graphic material for use as illustration, or advertising on manufactured materials and packaging or containers. Advise corporations on issues involving corporate image projects or problems. Utilize 3D CAD and 2D/3D graphics software. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, $128,460.00 per year. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field and 5 years of work experience. Employer will accept 2 additional years of work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree. Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in all of the following:
