About Child Mind Institute

We're dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need. We've become the leading independent nonprofit in children's mental health by providing gold-standard evidence-based care, delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow's breakthrough treatments.

Position Details:

The Child Mind Institute is looking for a licensed mental health professional to join our School and Community Programs team in New York City. Clinicians provide evidence-based service delivery in high-need K-12 schools across the five boroughs, including prevention-focused mental health skill building, individual treatment, small group treatment, educator consultation, and workshops for caregivers and educators. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to increasing access to high-quality mental health care.

Reporting to the clinical manager, this a full-time hybrid position (onsite 4 days per week).

You Will:
  • Deliver evidence-based group and individual therapy for students who present with common mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma and behavioral challenges

  • Conduct intake evaluations to determine program eligibility and set treatment goals, and administer validated measures for outcome monitoring and program evaluation purposes.

  • Lead class wide skill building workshops that teach cognitive-behavioral coping skills to K-12 students

  • Deliver presentations to caregiver and educator audiences on various mental health topics.

  • Consult and build relationships with educators and school staff to implement strategies that reduce mental health symptoms, promote school success, and support program sustainability

  • Complete clinical documentation including intake evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes promptly

  • Other job-related tasks as assigned

You Have:
  • Masters degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, clinical counseling or marriage and family therapy. At least 2 years' work experience in mental health, social work, education, or a related field, with at least 1 year experience or training in a school setting

  • Current New York LMSW or LMSW eligible (limited permit must be obtained upon hire)

  • Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating children and adolescents with mental health disorders, and engaging families and educators in treatment

  • Experience with the delivery of at least one evidence-based intervention with an interest in learning additional interventions.

  • Experience providing instruction in a group setting (e.g., classroom, workshop, seminar) and engage a variety of audiences
