Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of military weapon systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for a Senior Engineer to join either our Colchester, VT team or Saco, ME team in a hybrid environment. The Sr Engineer is a multidisciplinary position involving some systems work, some manufacturing work, some operations work, and mostly Production Engineering work.

Expected duties:

    Interpret system requirements on assigned program, and analyze production compliance with those requirements.
  • Ability to solve technical problems that are mechanical, electrical, and software domain.
  • Work with program manager and customer to evaluate and/or validate product requirements.
  • Become technical point of contact for assigned program in regards to manufacturing, material review, production questions, and program support.
  • Qualify for Material Review Board, and carry out reviews on non-conforming parts, to include analysis, determination, and documentation of technical path forward.
  • Act as focal point for product technical challenges, production of that product, and interact with operations on schedule for manufacture.
  • Interact with program management, technicians, assemblers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and other program stakeholders to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Take ownership of the Technical Data Package: Update, maintain, correct, and interpret technical requirements as necessary during production of the end items.
  • Accomplish field service of weapons systems as needed.

Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.



Major Position Responsibilities

  • Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies.
  • Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems.
  • Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects.
  • Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects.
  • Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.


Basic Qualifications

Required Education: Associates Degree

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree required

Years of Experience: 5 - 7 years experience in a relevant function

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Completed classwork in the mechanical, materials, thermal, and/or analysis area of interest. Oral and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills. Problem solving skills. Mathematic skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise.

Travel Requirements: Travel international and domestic at or below 25%.



Pay Range (USD)

$77,140.00 - $143,260.00


Pay Transparency Statement

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.


Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
