Description THE ROLE The Mission is the reason we exist. The Service Area CMIO helps to shape and influence how the Mission, Values, and Vision are lived out in the daily life of our ministries. This Mission Integration work touches on all aspects of organizational life including governance, strategy, operations, spiritual care, and the nurturing of our caregivers. Sustaining a culture consistent with the Mission and Values always requires vigilance especially during times of change and transition to maintain our Catholic identity and to ensure constant alignment with whom we say we are. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Strategic leadership and prophetic voice: While living the Mission is the responsibility of every caregiver within Providence, the Mission Integration Officer has the special responsibility of courageously holding the Mission focus as we move into the future.
- Leads the Values in Action Program.
- Leads the Ministry Fidelity Assessment and report's goal accomplishments to the system mission office.
- Service Area CMO participates as a member of the Ministry senior leadership team.
- Participate in key ministry leadership groups for strategy and planning.
- In collaboration with the Regional Director of Ethics partner of ethical discernment.
- Participate in the integration of Mission and Values into policies, procedures, objectives, and services in operational areas in alignment with region and system.
- Participates in the interview process for ministry leadership to assure Mission and Values alignment.
- Formation: Continuing the ministry of Providence over generations requires special attention by all leaders. The Mission Integration Leader is key in walking with those in leadership as they engage in the formation processes of ongoing growth as persons and as caregivers.
- Heritage and Identity:
- Oversees and participates in delivering orientation program to introduce caregivers, leaders, providers, and affiliates to the Providence Heritage, Mission, and Values.
- Initiates and supports events, rituals for observing and celebrating special events of our Mission, Values, history, life of our Sponsors, and Founders of the local ministries.
- Oversees the continuation of Catholic identity within the ministry while open to the diversity of the community.
- Ethics: A fundamental responsibility of the Mission Integration Officer is to hold the ministry's integrity in trust with others and alignment with regional and system Ethics and Theology leadership expectation, education, and priorities. Responsibilities are shared and fulfilled in collaboration with the regional director of ethics.
- Serves on the local Ethics Committee.
- May serve on the Regional Ethics Council.
- Service Area CMO keeps informed of any critical issues that put the ministry's identity at risk or could cause scandal in the community and informs the divisional CMO of any such issues.
- Mission-inspired culture: A Mission inspired culture is one in which the members of Providence animate both the purpose and Core Values of the organization through their words and behaviors.
- Justice in the Workplace
- Works with Human Resources (HR) to ensure programming and policies has an integrated focus on Catholic Social Teachings (Human Dignity, Subsidiarity, Participation, Rights of the Worker, Preferential Option for the Poor).
- Collaborates with Ministry leadership to ensure that programs and services address caregiver flourishing, wellbeing, and resilience.
- Provide support for caregivers during significant workforce changes in collaboration with Ministry HR leaders and chaplains.
- Community Partnerships
- Advances and celebrates caregiver participation in Providence sponsored:
- International service trips.
- Domestic volunteer activities.
- Annual advocacy agenda planning.
- Direct advocacy campaigns for important healthcare and social programs, both digital and traditional.
- Environmental stewardship across the ministry, including Green Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Health Care Mission, or related field of ministry
- A practicing member of the Catholic Church (preferred)
- 12 years of increasing responsibilities as a healthcare professional or administration of Mission related programs or services with 10 years of leadership experience
- Thorough knowledge of the teachings and principles and traditions of the Catholic Church
- Thorough understanding of Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services
- Demonstrates maturity, judgment, and leadership to be an effective and trusted contributor and colleague to the Ministry Chief Executive and leadership team to inspire and influence others in pursuit of the goals of the ministry of Providence
- Demonstrated competence in collaborative processes, change management and culture change, group facilitation, verbal and written communication, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Understanding the principles and practices of adult learning
- Theoretical and practical understanding, rooted in sound theology, of the Mission and Values of Providence and the healthcare ministry of the Catholic Church
- Demonstrate understanding the fundamentals and challenges of healthcare operations
- Communicates an integrated and balanced personal spirituality that aligns with Providence as a Catholic ministry. Able to articulate the connections between personal and organization spirituality and the workplace
- Able to engage individuals from diverse religious backgrounds in understanding and appreciating their role as leaders of a Catholic ministry while honoring their own religious or spiritual traditions
- Demonstrates personal and interpersonal skills that engender confidence, trust, and credibility among peers, caregivers, volunteers, medical staff, patients, and community citizens
- Able to lead, inspire and influence others in the pursuit of Providence vision and strategic goals. Confidence to be a prophetic voice.
