The Division Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing the safety, health, and risk management (ORM) programs for all projects and operations within the division. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures, while fostering a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization. The Division Safety Manager partners with project teams, field leadership, and senior leadership to promote proactive safety management and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and execution of M.C. Dean's health and safety management system and operational risk management process across all projects within the division.
  • Conduct regular site visits and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on organization policies, hazard recognition, and incident prevention.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to site safety managers and coordinators; assist in hiring and training safety staff.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations team members to develop project-specific accident prevention plans (APPs), activity hazard analyses (AHAs), and site-specific high-risk activity control plans.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare regular reports for senior leadership.
  • Facilitate learning teams, targeted topics, and working groups for initiatives and improvement efforts.
  • Lead subcontractor management and onboarding efforts as it relates to health and safety management expectations.
  • Stay current on industry safety trends, technologies, and best practices. Engage in industry leading forums for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 10+ years of safety experience in construction or engineering industries.
  • At least 3 years in a safety leadership or managerial role, managing multiple programs/projects.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910, EM385, ISO45001 as well as other federal and state regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites within the division.
  • Previous electrical / construction / industrial /federal and commercial S&H experience, Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) preferred
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI Polygraph Clearance.

Working Conditions:

  • Split between project location and M.C. Dean offices.
  • Exposure to outdoor construction environments, including uneven terrain, varying weather, and potential hazards.
  • Travel required up to 50% depending on project locations.
