Summary:

Coordinates activities of project management staff and contractors engaged in hospital renovations, new construction projects, and relevant complex equipment installations. Manages project management personnel matters including employment, training, termination and grievances. Responsible for the design and construction monitoring activities for projects involving such detail as: construction estimating, project budget development and tracking, scheduling design and construction activities, architectural design, code review and compliance, regulatory approvals, new construction phasing and logistics, planning, consultant fee negotiating, contract development, and coordinator of contractors and consultant activities. Assigns projects to project management staff, supervises the execution of work, and maintains a working knowledge of all active projects.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture or minimum 10 years of equivalent experience to attain a professional level of knowledge in engineering, design concepts, plant operations in healthcare
  2. License/Certifications: License to practice architecture or engineering in the State of Maine preferred.
  3. Experience: At least 10 years of experience related to construction project management including estimating and managing projects budgets, preferably in healthcare. Knowledge of and experience with the International Building Code, Life Safety Code, ADA, AIA contract documents, asbestos abatement, electrical, mechanical/plumbing and building maintenance, HVAC and energy conservation, and FGI Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Basic understanding of the C-ritical path Method (C PM) of project scheduling. Experience with Microsoft Word, Power Point, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
