This position will directly impact the future of U.S. space policy and will require your commitment and detailed attention toward public policy. As part of a hardworking team of diverse policy experts, you will support Blue Origin's strategic priorities. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of space policy. The team you're joining interfaces with federal, state and local legislative bodies and executive agencies. You will monitor state legislation, interface with state and local leaders, support community relations, and craft materials and messaging in support of company objectives. This position reports to the Vice President of Government Relations. You and the team work directly with company leadership and external consultants, as well as the business units, communications, legal and sales teams. Additional duties include facilitating USG engagements at Blue Origin facilities, supporting events for the Blue Political Action Committee and representing Blue Origin at community events. This role integrates initiatives and priorities across states, regions and communities (including Florida, Alabama, Texas and Washington). Responsibilities also include participation in civic organizations, and representing Blue to civic and legislative leaders, on panels, committees and at events. Knowledge of state and local legislation, budgets and history as well as relationships with relevant stakeholders are differentiators for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of state/local experience or equivalent
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in public policy or equivalent
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
  • Established professional expertise in state policies, legislation and operational interfaces with local government entities
  • Comfortable working with VIPs, public speaking and representing Blue Origin with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills for tracking state & local programs, budgets, and issues, while meeting deadlines
  • Able to support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; develop materials to support objectives; coordinate tactics with external consultants; identify supplier opportunities; participate in fundraisers and support GR facility tours
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
