The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Materials Technology (Anne Arundel County) is currently recruiting for a Transportation Engineer II. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.
Nature of Work
: The Transportation Engineer II position consists of several functions that are critical to SHA's mission of delivering and maintaining a quality asset management program. This position serves as the technical lead of pavement construction and condition data processing and reports to the Data Processing Team Leader within the Pavement Management Section. The position works with a mix of state and on-site consultant staff, district personnel, and the Field Explorations Division. The functions in this position include, but are not limited to: collecting, processing, data entry, quality control, and archival of data related to advertised and as-built construction projects that include paving items for the Pavement & Geotechnical Division unit cost database on a bi-weekly basis. Data is organized to provide cost data useful to both project and network level evaluation efforts. This data is entered into a statewide construction history database for all as-built projects. This position also performs processing, data entry, quality control, and archival of data and imagery collected by the Automatic Road Analyzer (ARAN) vehicle which will further be utilized to calculate cracking densities, International Roughness Index (IRI) and rutting.
