DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health, McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is seeking a highly motivated pharmacy technician to work in a position covering the ambulatory oncology retail pharmacies located in La Jolla and Hillcrest. Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Outpatient Pharmacy Technician III performs a full range of duties in a retail pharmacy setting and able to perform all general tasks in all areas of the pharmacy. They will assist the pharmacist in preparation of oncology and non-oncology medications for patient use according to established procedures; facilitates in the distribution of medications including delivery of medications to curbside and infusion chair; performs computer order entry, record keeping, setting up patients for their next refill reminder calls, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; and performs other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in different pharmacy areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician.

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Strong detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two - five (2 - 5) years of previous IV and Chemo experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Hours are variable (8 to 10 hours shifts) including weekends and rotating holidays (up to every other), coverage for sick calls and vacation.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on business needs.
  • Must be willing to rotate to all pharmacy areas/sites.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,519 - $80,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.90 - $38.41

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
