Lead ServiceNow Developer

What is the opportunity?

RBC ServiceNow is seeking a highly skilled Lead ServiceNow Developer to join our team in a full-time role. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of development expertise in core ServiceNow modules along with a focus on Business Continuity Management (BCM), GRC Integrated Risk Management (IRM), and Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining solutions on the ServiceNow platform that align with our business continuity, asset management, and IT operations strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable solutions in ServiceNow core applications (ITSM, ITOM) with a focus on BCM, GRC/IRM and CMDB modules.

  • Implement GRC processes including policy and compliance, risk and audit management.

  • Customize and configure workflows, business rules, UI policies and integrations.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for BCM capabilities including plan development, risk assessment, and testing automation.

  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Disaster Recovery teams to implement robust BCM workflows and automation.

  • Develop and enforce governance policies around CMDB data ingestion and lifecycle.

  • Customize and configure ServiceNow applications and services using JavaScript, GlideScript, and Flow Designer.

  • Provide platform governance, participate in change control, and ensure compliance with best practices, security policies, and industry standards.

  • Document the technical design decisions and prepare all required SDLC artifacts.

  • Support regulatory / audit compliance, operational resilience, and IT risk management through advanced ServiceNow development and integration.

  • Practice test-driven development.

  • Mentor junior developers and assist in code reviews and platform architecture decisions.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow development with solid knowledge of ITSM, ITOM, BCM and GRC/IRM frameworks.

  • Proven experience with CMDB modeling, health, and governance; with in-depth knowledge of CMDB, Discovery and Service Mapping.

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide, REST/SOAP APIs, and ServiceNow Flow Designer.

  • ServiceNow Certifications:

    • Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in IRM

    • Micro-certifications in BCM

    • Certified Application Developer (CAD)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Self-motivation to learn new technologies and concepts.

Nice-to-have:

  • ServiceNow CIS certifications in Discovery, ServiceMapping.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $110,000 - $190,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
