The Material Handler position safely and accurately loads, receives, and stacks materials and finished goods in their designated areas. They ensure documentation is present and accurate and for all materials handled. The Material Handler communicates with the team to understand schedules, issues, and delays. They help keep the facility area safe, clean, and clutter free. This position can be a substitute for the Warehouse Supervisor as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct all required pre-operational, operational, and post-operational checks/duties of Forklift.
- Operate forklift following safety policies and practices for loading, unloading, and handling of materials.
- Watch for other employees, plant materials, and hazards while performing duties.
- Safely stack/place raw materials and finished goods in their designated area(s).
- Organize material so as to not create hazards and allows for efficient inventory control.
- Ensure that the correct product is staged and labeled according to load sheets.
- Report any issues with the forklift to maintenance and/or the supervisor.
- Effectively communicate any concerns with conditions of trailers, drivers and/or the quality of incoming materials.
- Coordinating with drivers to ensure a safe and efficient flow of traffic in and out of the loading docks.
- Verify that the pallet tags on finished goods accurately reflect the product on the pallet(s) when storing or prior to shipment.
- Inventory materials, reporting results timely and accurately.
- Enter and post inventory into respective software.
- Print labels for the next shipments.
- Reserve, complete and post orders.
- Support production lines material movement, as needed in a backup capacity.
- Provide training as required.
- Label, seal and removal of hazardous/nonhazardous waste to proper storage location, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience:
- 2+ years of material handling experience.
