The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) provides technical, programmatic, and analytical support to customers with missions in national security to include the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Group brings technical and operational expertise in fields of countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG staff collaborate closely with our clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products to meet the most demanding government standards and timelines.

We have an immediate need for a Systems Engineer/CWMD to support DHS onsite in Washington, DC.



Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for applying comprehensive methods for describing current and/or future architecture/structure and behavior of an organization's processes, information systems, personnel, and organizational sub-units so that they align with the organization's core mission, vision, goals and strategic direction. Assist in addressing CBRN architectures (how an adversary may use a pathway to execute an attack), performance management (through organizational program reviews), and process architecture. Support enterprise design by developing enterprise schema to map data and process flows between capabilities and solutions. Manage the activities of a team of enterprise architects. Develop plans of action and timetables in order to meet established deadlines. Develop executive briefings, detailed technical documentation, memos, and Contract Deliverables. Develop risk assessment scenarios, conduct various displays, and reporting of analysis.



Qualifications

Requirements

    Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of professional experience.
  • Experience with the frameworks such as DoDAF (DoD Architecture Framework) or UAF (Unified Architecture Framework) to assess architecture and capability gaps.
  • Experience creating various operational view diagrams and developing compelling written and visual communications that are clear, concise, and suited to the audience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs.

Desired

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Enterprise Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Experience providing analytical support to the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments related to Weapons of Mass Destruction.
  • Experience with DoDAF viewpoint and modeling software and familiarity with WMD defense and deterrence concepts; WMD sensors that can detect radiation, chemica,l or biologic agents; and with non-technical detection methodologies (e.g. law enforcement and intelligence).
  • Active TS/SCI and DHS Suitability.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Salary transparency pay range for the Washington DC area: $100k-$125k
