Senior Financial Analyst - Public Sector, Defense

Job Summary:

BDO is seeking a professional with experience performing financial analysis and reconciliations with General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) data and reports to assist efforts in supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) Agency with annual financial management and analysis functions. This role performs financial analysis and provides data analysis and recommendations for potential adjustments while assisting in financial reconciliations within and across systems. This position is responsible for developing analyses, reports, charts, and briefing materials and regularly analyzing and presenting budget and accounting information to stakeholders. This position will assist in resolving complex financial data challenges and conducts reviews on financial reporting and financial statement deliverables. In addition, the position will be responsible for reconciling GFEBS fund balance with treasury account and drafting and documenting adjustments/corrections. The Senior Financial Analyst will be involved in the quarterly closing process providing data (JVs, footnote content) and analysis.

Job Duties:



  • Performs monthly FBWT reconciliation and drafts and documents resulting adjustments/corrections
  • Assists with quarter close by preparing necessary reconciliations/analysis, JVs, data input(s), note preparation, and bulk JV reviews
  • When requested, researches and prepares accounting research on items determined to be necessary by management
  • Performs help desk functions by troubleshooting GFEBS problem areas to find solutions and temporary workarounds
  • Pulls daily IDOC Interface Errors Reports for systems to include: DTS; SPS; AXOL; ATAAPS; and DCPS. Research, correct and reprocess failed IDOCs
  • Pulls daily Status of Funds (SOF) Reports for Funds Center(s) in ERP and BI warehouse to assist with reconciliation of DTS; MIPRs; SPS PRs; AXOL PRs; FMZs; and Direct Charges and report to assigned management
  • Researches Unmatched Transactions (UMTs) to include Unmatched Disbursements (UMDs) and Unmatched Collections (UMCs) and work with DFAS to have items posted to the accurate LOA's
  • Prepares, compiles, and publishes, as requested, Annual Financial Reports, quarterly financial statements, footnotes, and supporting information
  • Prepares buyer and seller eliminations
  • Prepares and performs Fund Balance with Treasury/Cash Management reconciliations
  • Delivers a full range of services that uses their educational background, experience, and organizational skills while serving BDO's dynamic public sector client base
  • Assists with firm practice, solution, and business development initiatives
  • Supports task areas while coordinating closely with engagement team management and client leadership on strategy, planning, execution, status, and review processes
  • Adapts to a changing client environment while meeting client expectations
  • Manages priorities and works effectively to initiate correspondence and task completion. Supports multiple efforts through flexible multi-task coordination
  • Provides summary recommendations to team leadership regarding assigned work stream
  • Applies fundamental industry knowledge and standards to support client reviews, improvements, and/or implementations
  • Communicates and maintains relationships with key client personnel to ensure shared understanding of processes, operations, and functions
  • Prepares presentations, briefings, and actively participates in client meetings and day-to-day interactions
  • Communicates with team management through effective status reporting and demonstrates ownership and accountability for assigned task areas and work products
  • Establishes professional rapport with clients and other organizations
  • Supports and reviews work products for technical accuracy, deliverable quality, and overall value to the client
  • Provides expert level knowledge on reimbursable processes, spending chain, civilian payroll process, labor reconciliation, payroll set up, and labor errors
  • Formats reports and analyzes BI/ERP data into useful information for tracking financial operations
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets various General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) financial documents and reports, against established financial metrics
  • Supports recruiting efforts by identifying potential candidates and participating in interviews
  • Supports business development meetings and/or proposal development process with guidance from Public Practice leadership
  • Other duties as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise Public Sector staff on engagements related to internal and client projects

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree, required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Computer Science, preferred


Experience



  • Three (3) or more years of accounting, financial, business, or analysis experience, required
  • Three (3) or more years of federal financial management experience, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

Maryland Range: $75,000 - $110,000
Washington DC Range: $75,000 - $110,000
