Excelitas is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our team of leaders and innovators!

The primary responsibility of this position is to drive the Continuous Improvement Program, provide direction and leadership to matters relating to Quality Management within the site operations. The incumbent also coordinates all aspects of the company's Quality Assurance program, including supplier quality management, customer/field quality issues, Production Quality management. This position drives the Continuous Improvement program developing Lean culture within the organization, administering the CI program, training, and coaching employees, facilitating kaizens throughout the organization. This position establishes plans, policies, and procedures at all levels to ensure that the Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement programs will meet or exceed internal, external customers' needs, expectations; champion the lean toolbox and drive a Lean System.

Role and responsibilities



  • Develop standard work benchmarks and line balancing for productivity.
  • Determine labor and machine time standards to come up with resource plans to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Lead and co-ordinate ergonomic improvement efforts.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to support ISO 9001 QMS Program, Engineering Change Management Process.
  • Lead Value Stream Mappings, process designs for production processes.
  • Support productivity improvement initiatives, analyze implement and eliminate 7+1 wastes within the Manufacturing processes.


Required Qualifications



  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Engineering degree program at an accredited university: Industrial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain majors would be typically a good fit, but similar majors are considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety protocols, SOPs, blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of lean principles including lean/flow throughputs, VSMs, JIT, Kaizen, Problem Solving, Six Sigma, 5S methodology, Visual Management etc.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Beginner to intermediate level knowledge on ERP Systems preferably SAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite


Hourly rate $24-$28 (depending on experience)
