Job Summary
Ensures the plans and performance of the quality control and assurance programs within the organization meet or exceed management expectations. Provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement in accordance with organization goals and objectives.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Accomplishes results through direct reports and staff working within established organizational objectives. Performs typical responsibilities of management requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and coaching. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting cost, schedule and quality objectives.
- Directs workers engaged in quality assurance activities to ensure continuous control and improvement of Quality processes. Designs and implements Quality training programs for key personnel in conjunction with managers. Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting government regulations, regulatory agency guidelines and internal policies to ensure compliance. Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
- Reviews technical documentation and recommends inspection approaches and procedures. Reviews proposals and contracts and insures quality elements can be complied with. Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures.
- Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes to procedures.Reviews technical publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of the technical developments in the industry.
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product. Confers with engineering regarding quality issues of new product designs.
- Works directly with operating entities to ensure that inspections and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements and meet specifications. Manages audits or directs the audit of work activities of stakeholders to verify conformance of activities to standards defined in the audit document. Observes and asks questions pertaining to job functions.
- Confers with material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply, quality and capacity of the vendor to meet production requirements and to insure quality of all purchased parts for company use.
- Establishes and implements quality plans, testing and inspection procedures. Audits testing results to determine if product specifications are met and advises operating units on quality control standards for raw materials and finished products.
- Tests raw material and finished product to quality controls to ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications and applicable government regulations.
- Analyzes quality escapes and product defects and reports findings to management and appropriate department. Maintains an effective material review, disposition and corrective action program. Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
- Stays abreast of the latest advances in inspection techniques and standards. Insures inspection personnel have the required levels of proficiency and certification in the various inspection disciplines.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Education Requirements
Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. In appropriate discipline. Preferred Other. International Auditor and Training Certification Association (IATCA) or the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.Experience Requirements 8 year(s) Must have a working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration regulations and requirements, Coordinated Agency Supplier Evaluation, ISO 9001 and requirements. - Must be able to read and write the English language, perform basic mathematical calculations and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
