Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Voorhees office to work in there Commercial/Hospitality Department.
The Commercial / Hospitality Division provides full-service MEP/FP engineering, energy consulting, design-build, construction management and commissioning services for industrial facilities and high-performance buildings for the commercial and institutional markets. We are a team comprised of engineers educated and practiced in energy conservation and project implementation with a proven track record for excellence in all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, & fire protection engineering. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take an important role in taking the lead, in coordination with the Project Engineer in designing mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fire protection systems for various clients in the various markets within their design team. In some cases, there will be a requirement to sign and seal the drawings on projects where they are the Engineer of Record on the project. Coordinate and work with the design team within your discipline and work with the client/PM/Project Engineer to execute project objectives in a timely and efficient manner. The responsibilities of this position include: * Manage and direct the production of specific project staff with the focus on the team's efficiency and goals for working to the project's scope, required level of detail and project budget on a project-by-project basis. * Design Mechanical / HVAC / Plumbing or Fire Protection systems per client requirements and as directed by the Chief Engineer / Director. Primary trade responsibility will be as per the direction of the Chief Engineer / Director. * As applicable, perform as the Engineer of Record signing and sealing drawings for projects under your direction and supervision. * Conduct load calculations analysis and energy modeling using programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP. * Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget. Provide design review of engineering documents to execute the QA/QC requirements per CEG methods and standards. * Perform engineering calculations, specifications, design, layout, and checking of mechanical and HVAC drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes. * Provide direction to less experienced Engineers in Training and draftspersons when working together with them on projects. * Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings and provide field construction support and perform construction administration tasks, as required. * Monitor and assist in the training and development of subordinate engineers as directed by Chief Engineer / Director using the agreed upon CEG methods and standards. * Develop and/or assist in proposal development, client management and overall project execution. Desired skills and experience: * BS in Mechanical Engineering * Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience with a strong record of accomplishment in managing and executing large multi-faceted engineering projects. * Experience in Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Design Build Construction is preferred. * Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred. * MBA or Other Certificated by Accredited Groups is preferred. * Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements. * Must have deep-knowledge of Mechanical / HVAC / Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. * Must have experience/working knowledge of load analysis and energy modeling programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP. * Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad, Revit experience is a plus. * Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus. * Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions. * Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment. * Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports. * Able to read, write, speak and understand English. * Able to be a problem solver and prioritize tasks as well as multi-task. * Able to manage and direct workflow of others. * Strong financial management skills and business acumen. * Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others both in-house as well as with clients. * Must be willing to participate in continuing education by completing professional development classes and attending seminars at the discretion of their manager.
