Job Summary

Do you enjoy working in Southeast Alaska? Do you have experience operating equipment on heavy highway road construction projects? We are seeking a qualified Equipment Operator. We want someone with a positive drive and team spirit. A dedication to hard work, accuracy, and safety are a top priority! This position involves working at our job sites on Prince of Wales Island.

Main Responsibilities
  • Follows the instructions of their Manager / Foreman and applies safety guidelines linked to their activities
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Comes prepared and carries out the work accurately and safely
  • Follows job specs and plans
  • Maintains vehicles and equipment: clearing and verification of vehicles before and after use, carries out standard upkeep (minor repairs and maintenance) in observance of company guidelines and regulations. Notifies their manager in the event of anomalies.
  • Conduct pre and post trip DOT inspections on equipment and follow DOT FMCSA guidelines to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Completes daily paperwork as required
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Certifications as required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification desired but not required
  • MSHA Training preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Required to pass pre-employment drug screening as well as PAT (Physical Ability Test) prior to starting work
  • Required to complete and pass a background screening
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Ability to sit / stand / work on feet for long periods, walk on uneven terrain, use hands an fingers to manipulate ojects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, see , and hear with frequent exposure to loud noise. Regulary exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
  • Occaisonally lift and move 50 pounds or greater.
