About the Department:

The Graduate Admissions Office at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School has administrative support from various departments within the law school and the university.

Located in Arlington, VA, just two miles from downtown Washington, D.C., the Antonin Scalia Law School is a top 50 law school. As a relatively young institution, Scalia Law offers students the opportunity to pursue a JD, JM, or LLM degree.

About the Position:

The Graduate Admissions Administrative Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining all functions needed to administratively support the graduate admissions office, including maintaining supplies, managing vendors, P-card reconciliation and invoices, application database processing, and managing and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:



  • Processes and maintains applicant files including filing supplemental materials accurately and in a timely manner, communicating with applicants via phone and email regarding application materials, and adding applicants into the university's enterprise resource system;
  • Assists with recruitment efforts including responding to applicant and prospective student inquiries (via phone and email)
  • Maintains lead database, assisting with marketing materials, answering questions, and providing information to prospective and admitted students, maintaining recruitment data, and assisting with day of event duties;
  • Prepares, organizes, and carries out large mailings, including mailings to applicants and materials for recruitment events;
  • Purchasing and procurement of office supplies, marketing ads, registration fees, etc.; and
  • Performs a variety of other related clerical and office tasks.


Required Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in related field;
  • Some experience in an office environment performing clerical support (generally 6 months or more);
  • Sound organizational skills;
  • Skill in written and verbal communication;
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team; and
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field;
  • Experience in a higher education office performing administrative support (generally, 1 or more years); and
  • Customer service experience.
