School of Music Job Description
The University of Missouri School of Music invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education to begin in August 2025. This is a full time, nine-month, non-tenure track appointment. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses for choral music education majors, online graduate music education courses, and conducting a university choral ensemble. The successful candidate may assist with freshman music education seminar, advise and administer the online MM in Music Education, supervise graduate student conductors serving as teaching assistants, publish music education research and pursue creative/scholarly activities related to choral music pedagogy. The School of Music expects the successful candidate to participate in music education area activities and provide service to the School and University, in keeping with expectations for visiting assistant professors. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Completed doctorate in music education or ABD by August 1, 2025. Three years of successful secondary school choral teaching experience. Candidates will be evaluated on: Experiences teaching music education classes and choral ensembles in higher education. Record of research publications and presentations. Ability to perform creative/scholarly activities such as workshops and clinics, conducting honor choirs, working with community or youth music activities, and/or adjudication. Application Materials
