Location: St. Patrick's Hospital, Missoula MT Schedule: 5x8 schedule, to be determined Gross Technician II performs daily activities associated with the processing of laboratory specimens for diagnostic pathology under the direction of the Pathologists' Assistants and receives specimens, documents the macroscopic descriptions and prepares low to moderate complexity surgical pathology specimens for processing. You Will: Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of surgical specimens for Histologic processing, according to policies and procedures. May include inking and sectioning of non-complex specimens. May be trained to triage complex specimens. Escalate non-routine, complicated surgical specimens to Pathologist Assistant and/or Pathologist. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations:: Support department in being inspection ready. Maintain cleanliness of grossing area and perform scheduled maintenance. Maintain orderly storage of surgical specimens. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Certifications Associate degree in laboratory science with a minimum of 60 hours in science related course studies: or Bachelor of Science degree preferred 3 years of Histology and/or surgical gross experience: 5 years of histology and/or surgical gross experience preferred Meet all requirements as outlined in 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489 Skills and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure Must be able to work independently Flexible and committed to the team concept Possess excellent interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to effectively work with leadership and staff at all levels of the organization Basic PC skills including MS Office, and the ability to learn new software Maintains professionalism in all facets of the laboratory environment Pay Range: $30.15 - $43.72 USD Hourly The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Generally, new hire offers will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, depending on experience (DOE), with the ability to grow within the range over time.
