Position Summary

The Operations Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to optimize asset performance and provide technical engineering support to the organization. This role involves working closely with key stakeholders throughout the business to solve complex technical problems and maximize project cashflows. Applicants are expected to have excellent technical and communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver business results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monitoring and stewardship of Operations KPIs, particularly related to asset availability and generation performance.

  • Lead the initiation, development, and execution of asset recovery plans working cross-functionally with Field Operations, Procurement, Asset Strategy, and peer Engineering organizations.

  • Provide effective management of the Request for Technical Support (RTA) and Management of Change (MOC) processes ensuring support requests are completed in a timely manner.

  • Lead the Condition Based Maintenance program overseeing the monitoring of the turbine vibration monitoring, gearbox oil particulate monitoring, and oil analysis monitoring programs.

  • Provide effective management of the Operations and Maintenance cost modeling process for prospective wind, solar, and battery storage projects working closely with the Development and Underwriting organizations.

  • Prepare and present various presentations and reports to leadership that synthesize Operations business performance and complex technical information.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters or P.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil engineering

  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience to include five years or more of energy renewables industry experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to achieve business results.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and coordinate work while showing initiative and sound judgment.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good working relationships with teammates and business partners.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical information and data into presentations and reports for leadership.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI.

  • Experience with Aveva PI (PI Vision, PI DataLink) and Seeq or other data analysis tools.

  • Experience with Operations and Maintenance cost modeling.

  • Familiarity with condition monitoring tools and with vibration monitoring and oil analysis.

Working Conditions

This role is intended to be a hybrid position reporting to the Deriva Headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. Up to 15-25% travel should be anticipated.
