Job Summary

The Lead Barista is responsible for creating a personable and memorable experience for all guests by providing them with top-notch service, quality beverages and food, as well as ensuring the cafe is a comfortable environment for all customers.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Consistently provide quality beverages and food. Primary contact for the espresso station at all times during shift.
  • Operate cash register to handle food and beverage transactions.
  • Weekly inventory of coffee, milks, syrups and all things related to the espresso station.
  • Training new team members by positively reinforcing standards and performance; give respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Provide maintenance training to existing staff as needed.
  • Research and develop seasonal beverages.
  • Assist with Cafe tasks as needed, such as ensuring products are labeled, stocked, and organized.
  • In-depth knowledge of all food and beverage products sold and their ingredients.
  • Highlight cafe items and recommend pairings to customers based on purchases.
  • Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge always.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor during high volume periods or atypical events.
  • Ensure transactions are always processed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language. Make guests feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest's questions and needs.
  • Follow all policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of all.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace at all times.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Compensation

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $20 - $24 p/hr plus benefits. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily operates behind the cafe counter in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping. It requires constant standing and walking; continuous reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, stooping, and wiping; ability to remain stationary for long periods of time; frequent hand-washing; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.; ability to manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry, and wipe; ability to hear and talk; have good close and distance vision and ability to focus between the two. Should be able to stand long hours. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop or kneel. Must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
