Needham seeks a highly qualified individual for the part-time position of Public Health Nurse (Special Assignment Support) to assist the division with a variety of educational and policy functions.

Part-time (10 hours per week - temporary position)

Duties and Responsibilities

This role involves designing and delivering training programs to community members, intensive community outreach, and involvement in assessing the needs of staff and local community organizations while also managing data collection to support evidence-based practices. The ideal candidate has a strong background in public health, training methodologies, and a commitment to promoting well-being within diverse communities.

  • Coordinates, schedules and monitors CPR training setup and delivery
  • Participates in public outreach and health education programs and training, such as evidence-based fall prevention programs such as Matter of Balance.
  • Provides data to support the Town's Heart Safe Community.
  • Staffs the Domestic Violence Action Committee
  • Additional activities including immunizations and blood pressure clinics

Requirements

  • Three or more years of work experience in nursing or public health is required, and ideally experience in both fields. Part-time and volunteer experience may be considered to fulfill for a portion of the work requirements
  • Active and valid Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse, a current and valid certification in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and possession of a valid state-issued driver's license are required
