General Summary of Position Department:Nursing- PRN Status:Part Time, 20 hours per week Schedule:3:00PM - 11:00PM once per week, 7:00AM - 7:00PM every other week Job Summary: MedStar Health is looking for a Staffing Office Support Tech to join our team in the PRN department at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. This position is responsible for patient bed assignment, various nursing support duties and provide coverage for staffing coordinator. Primary Duties: * Staffing Office Duties: Handles staffing responsibilities such as receiving sick calls, notifying supervisors (DD/PCS), contacting staff to fill shifts, updating Staffing Solutions, and processing schedule changes. * Patient Admission & Bed Assignment Communication: Coordinates with MDs, office reps, ER and unit charge nurses, and the Patient Registration department to share patient information and bed assignments. Informs patients and families of bed availability. * Support Services & Patient Transport: After 4 PM and on weekends, delivers items (e.g., dietary trays, linens, medical records) and assists with transport of patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies as needed. * ADT Communication & Bed Board Management: Manages communication regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers (ADT), maintains patient privacy, and updates the Bed Board with current census and bed availability. Alerts DD/PCS of emergency bed status. * Meetings, Committees & Community Engagement: Participates in meetings, serves on committees, and represents the department in community outreach initiatives. * Data Collection & Performance Improvement: Gathers data for performance analysis including daily/biweekly HPPD, agency hours, and census reports using Excel. * Problem Reporting & Customer Service: Identifies and reports patient, staff, and departmental concerns to supervisors, and responds to questions from patients and families in a courteous and timely manner, referring them appropriately. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED or active enrollment in Allied Health Votech program or completion of MSMH summer intern program.This position has a hiring range of $20.17 - $35.04 |
