Position Description: |
The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, in the Carver College of Medicine, at the University of Iowa, invites applicants for an Assistant Professor on the Tenure Track Position. This position includes a 12-month appointment, fringe benefits, competitive start-up package, and access to state-of-the-art laboratory and core facilities. The primary appointment of the faculty member will be in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Successful applicants will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program, and participate in teaching activities in the Department. Successful applicants will have strong research interests in cell differentiation, protein degradation, and eye biology as well as ample experience with teaching students in medical specialties. The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology has broad research interests in cell and developmental biology, neurobiology, cancer biology, vascular biology, stem-cell biology, molecular medicine, cystic fibrosis, and gene therapy. The department is also the administrative home of the University'sGene Therapy Center, an entity that funds, and otherwise supports, research in molecular medicine, with a particular emphasis on the development of genetic and cell therapies for cystic fibrosis. The department is also the center for the anatomical sciences at the University of Iowa, with an innovative approach to teaching to a wide variety of professional training programs on campus. Education Requirement: |
All applicants must have a PhD, MD, DO, or MBBS degree. |
Required Qualifications: |
Applicants should have a demonstrated ability in research with clear potential for supporting an innovative and productive research program. Applicants must have clear plans to create a funded research program and demonstrate the ability to mentor and teach PhD graduate students. |
Desirable Qualifications: |
Existing external funding is highly desired for this application. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong publication record who use state-of-the art techniques to address emerging and critical questions in eye biology. We are particularly interested in candidates who's research centers on cellular biology and chronic disease of the eye, especially the cornea. |
