About This Project

Udemy DOJO is a cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) companion app designed to enhance Udemy's public speaking courses. The goal is to create an immersive, interactive environment where learners can safely practice and build confidence in real-world speaking scenarios.

You'll be joining our prototype phase - building the foundation of this transformative learning experience. This is your chance to help shape the look and feel of a VR education tool that will be used by thousands of learners worldwide.

About This Role

As a Technical Artist, you'll be the bridge between art and engineering-bringing realistic environments to life while optimizing for Meta Quest devices.. You will take charge of designing realistic virtual venues, ensuring user avatars' lifelike embodiment, and integrating AI-feedback systems in tandem with our technical teams.

You will master an end-to-end VR pipeline alongside AI-integration cross-functionally across art, UX, and VR. This role ensures users in our educational landscape feel emotionally connected and empowered.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with developers and Udemy's creative team to implement visually polished, performant VR environments.

  • Translate 3D assets and environment designs into immersive VR scenes in Unreal Engine.

  • Work with shaders, materials, lighting, and VFX to achieve a semi-realistic or realistic aesthetic.

  • Optimize assets and rendering for Meta Quest 2/3, ensuring performance and frame rate targets are met.

  • Help integrate interactive elements on stage (lighting, mic setup, crowd reactions, etc.).

  • Assist with light scripting and debugging tools to allow for scenario customization.

We understand that not everyone will match each of the above qualifications. However, we also realize that everyone has unique experiences that can add value to our company. Even if you think your background might not perfectly align, we'd love to hear from you!
